About ICES Vocabulary Server v.2.2
ICES Vocabulary Server is the library of master reference lists (aka Code Types) and codes that are used in ICES managed dataflows. A Code Type defines a distinct collection of a concept, for example ISO country codes. By selecting a Code Type, you are given all the code values that are logically related to that Code Type. By clicking on one of these code values, for example "DK" to denote the country code for Denmark, you can see all the assigned attributes and existing relationships to other Code Types and codes in the ICES dataflows.
The Code Types and codes can be filtered by Themes and/or Datasets. By selecting one or more Themes/Datasets from the drop-down at the top left of the page, you can filter the view of possible codes to a particular data discipline.
Search options
The default search option display all results matching a keyword in the search line against titles and descriptions of Codes, Code Types and Synonyms in ICES Vocabulary Server. Search for an exact phrase can be made with captions (“”). Please note, ‘%’ is a searchable character, and search against ambiguous keywords should be done without it.
The search can be refined with results beginning or ending with the given keyword. Additionally, the list of displayed codes can be narrowed by a single Code Type or the deprecated flag. All Codes and Code Types can be sorted by labels, description, and created / modified dates.
Advanced search can be made for more targeted querying within related Code Types, f.ex. a list of country-specific stations. Advanced search can be made with a keyword within a Code or a Code Type list (f.ex. Code Type ‘Station’), and a keyword from a related Code or a Code Type (f.ex. Code ‘Ireland’).
External Code Types
ICES Vocabulary Server includes a number of external Code Types and Codes, which are the reference lists and references managed elsewhere, and are displayed in full or partially by ICES.
